The Academy currently runs trainings for three age groups:

  • U4-U6

  • U7-U9

  • U10-U12

Kids between the age of 4 and 9 are in the phase called “Discovery” where they are still figuring out what and how they like to play.

Kids between 9 and 12 are in the phase called “Skill Acquisition” where kids must learn a solid foundation of game related technical skills. If the player does not gain this skill foundation during this phase it will be very difficult to make it up later. No amount of fitness or competitive spirit will ever compensate for deficiencies in functional game skills.

At F.C. Five Dock Academy we focus from early age on developing the four core skills of football applied to the two phases of football (attack and defence):

  • First Touch

  • Running with the ball

  • 1V1

  • Striking the ball

In training, there are three core values we at F.C Five Dock Academy believe in:

#havefun

#trainhard

#playfair

And we have developed a weekly program aimed to reinforce those three values:

  • #havefun means… Having fun playing football. This is the main reason kids all over the world love the game. This is especially important for the smaller kids. Not having fun means they probably will not want to play in the future.

  • #trainhard means we take the training seriously. We understand the kids want to have fun but they can do while learning to play soccer. And to learn they will need to train hard. We focus our training on the two phases of football (attacking and defending) and acquire and/or improve the four core skills of football:

    • First Touch

    • Striking the Ball

    • Running with the Ball

    • 1v1

  • #playfair means that we embrace sportsmanship and we will teach kids how to be humble in victory, respecting your competitor and their effort and be be gracious in defeat. We also will teach kids to respect the referee and everyone else involved in the game of football.
