In partnership with the Canterbury Association we are planning the roll out of our game leader program.
Game leaders will be introduced over the coming months and permanently next season to help provide a better football experience for all our members, as well as building our referee population into the future.
The main role of the Game Leader is to keep the game moving fluently, limit stoppages and assist players with all match restarts. Most importantly, they must make every effort to create an environment that ensures that all players have fun, are learning the game and have maximum involvement.
The Game Leader can be a club official, parent, older child/player (11 years or older) or beginner referee and should always be enthusiastic and approachable.
In season 2022 game leaders will be assigned to all under 8,9,10 & 11 matches across all clubs & grounds.
Game leaders will be paid for the games they manage and will be assigned games based on their availability. It’s a great way for our junior players to be paid for participating in the game they love to play.
Our focus right now is to conduct orientation and training for anyone interested in participating.
